University sports facilities

The Practice acted on York St John University’s behalf on the development of its major 24ha sports complex, located approximately 2km north of York city centre at Haxby Road.

Following the University’s acquisition of the site in April 2012, the Practice provided assistance on the development of a Masterplan and led a successful major planning application for regional standard outdoor playing facilities comprising floodlit all-weather pitches, tennis courts and netball courts together with access, parking and landscaping works. 

 O’Neill Associates led planning work for the next phase of work at the complex, obtaining full planning permission for a two-storey ‘Hub’ building providing facilities including changing and teaching accommodation, gym facilities and an indoor sport hall.

Recent planning permissions at the site obtained by the Practice include development of a new indoor tennis facility and additional full size 3G all-weather pitch, both due to be completed for the 2020/2021 term.
