University of York Velodrome
O’Neill Associates were engaged to secure planning for further phases of development at the York Sport Village to create a regionally important cycling facility on the University of York’s Heslington East campus.
The York Sport Velodrome is a 250m outdoor tarmac track jointly funded by the University of York and British Cycling. It is Yorkshire’s only outdoor velodrome and provides an Olympic-sized facility for track cyclists with 30-degree banking at each end. The cycle circuit provides 1km of safe and traffic-free track.
The Practice acted on behalf of the University of York on separate applications for the facilities, working to address planning issues and negotiating with the Council on community use of the facilities.
