University Energy Centre
The sustainability strategy for Campus East at the University of York is based on 10% of the energy requirements for the University being met by renewable sources.
In 2020, O'Neill Associates gained planning permission for a 2MW combined heat and power energy centre, which will increase the capacity of the University to generate its own power and become less reliant on electricity supplied from the grid. The design of the building allows for future ‘bolt on’ modules to be added as the development of the campus intensifies
