Flamingo Land Theme Park

The Flamingo Land Theme Park, Zoo and Holiday Village covers an area of around 150 hectares to the north of Kirkby Misperton. It is amongst the premier (paid-for) tourist attractions in the country, with annual visitor numbers exceeding 1.5 million people and is the UK’s busiest independent theme park. Flamingo Land is a major employer within the Ryedale District with a staff team of around 500 people.

O’Neill Associates act as retained planning consultants for the theme park and recently appeared at the Examination in Public for the Ryedale Local Plan, where we presented the case for extending the limits of the park to facilitate its future expansion. The Council and the Inspector were supportive of the changes and the site specific policies for Flamingo Land were altered in the adopted version of the Plan to create more flexibility.
