Plans and Policies Project

Broomfield Farm, Stainsacre Lane, Whitby

Broomfield Farm comprises 17.8 ha of agricultural land on the eastern approach into Whitby. The land falls outside the development limits of the town on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. It forms part of a larger parcel of land that was originally purchased for the construction of the Yorkshire Water waste water treatment works located immediately to the south.

Acting on behalf of Keyland Developments, O’Neill Associates successfully promoted the site as a proposed housing allocation in the Scarborough Local Plan. The housing allocation covers almost 6 ha of land outside the odour zone for the adjacent treatment works and is expected to deliver a yield of approximately 200 houses with associated landscaping and open space.

Keyland submitted a hybrid planning application to develop the site in February 2020.
