Rural and Urban Fringe Project

Rural workers’ dwelling in the Green Belt

Pool Bridge Farm has successfully diversified over the last 30 years, establishing itself as one of the premier fishing venues within the country. Following the retirement of his father, our client sought planning permission to build a 3-bedroom house on the site in order to take over his father’s role at the head of the business.

The practice put forward a case for very special circumstances to allow development within the Green Belt, which was originally rejected by officers but was subsequently accepted by Members at Planning Committee in May 2017. The ability to reside on the site was a critical part of our client’s plans for the development of the business and will secure its long term future
