Rural and Urban Fringe Project

Conversion of agricultural buildings to form 2 dwellings

Prospect Farm is located within the Green Belt outside the development limits but within the boundaries of the Conservation Area of Murton village to the west of York.

The site contained a collection of former agricultural buildings, which had been vacant for a number of years and were in varying states of dilapidation.

O’Neill Associates were instructed to review potential for residential use of the site and progressed proposals for conversion and extension of the redundant agricultural buildings to form two dwellings, with demolition of existing barn structures.

Issued addressed during the planning process related to green belt policy, design and impact on the heritage assets, and planning permission was secured for a high-quality development which will enhance the character and appearance of the Conservation Area and provide a viable new purpose for the site.
