In July 2015, the practice obtained planning permission for the conversion and extension of Roman House to provide an additional 100 bed spaces for the 5* Grand Hotel, which occupies the adjoining site. The proposals included a new 160-seat dining pavilion at the rear of the existing hotel and 2 retail units on the ground floor of Rougier Street.
Formerly a large office block, Roman House had lain empty for a number of years since it was vacated by Aviva in 2010. The exterior of the building had been poorly maintained and the interior was completely stripped out. The development will breathe new life into the building enhancing the contribution that it makes to the Historic Core Conservation Area.
