Works to construct a residential care home for the elderly, comprising 64no. bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms for the elderly with associated amenity facilities, car parking and external landscaping, including private residents’ gardens is anticipated to start in Autumn 2018 now planning permission has been secured by O’Neill Associates.
The care home will be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the design reflects a higher standard than minimum registration requirements.
Planning permission was granted in November 2017. A Judicial Review was then upheld due to an error in how the local planning authority assessed local need for care homes. O’Neill Associates issued a witness statement to the high court on behalf of the client, and then submitted an identical second application which was approved
The proposed care home will feature extensive communal areas and leisure facilities, with attractive landscaped outdoor areas for the use of the residents. The practice engaged extensively with the City of York Council, Fulford Parish Council and members of community at a drop-in public consultation event prior to submitting the application, which was informed by feedback received from the various stakeholders.
