O’Neill Associates was the lead consultant for a team which secured outline planning consent for a major expansion of the University of York onto a 116 ha site adjacent to the existing campus. The Company was instrumental in the preparation of a Development Brief for the site in collaboration with the Council, and led the team which prepared and submitted the outline planning application. This included an Environmental Impact Assessment and supporting documentation, with justification for the development in Green Belt. The outline application was supported by the local authority, and was granted consent by the Secretary of State in 2007 following a six week public inquiry. O’Neill Associates has taken the lead in obtaining discharge of outline planning conditions, including approvals of a Design Brief, Landscape Design Brief, Travel Plan, Renewable Energy Strategy, Drainage Strategy and a number of Management Plans.
