Bootham Park Hospital
Bootham Park Hospital
Planning permission and listed building consent have been obtained for conversion works, including internal and external alterations and the erection of a single storey extension, at Bootham Park Hospital; a psychiatric facility within a Grade I listed building in a conservation area. The works include significant intervention in the building, particularly in the reorganisation of ward accommodation, provision of en-suite facilities and improved staff and reception areas. They will enable the building, the first part of which was first erected in 1777, to meet modern healthcare standards, particularly in respect of privacy and dignity for patients. The Practice guided the applicants through negotiation stages with English Heritage and the Council’s Conservation and Planning officers, establishing general agreement for the proposals and thereby securing a smooth transition through the planning process.
